In New York State you MUST get a building permit for any project that involves construction, demolition, electrical work (this includes in-ground and above ground pools), plumbing work, carpentry, or the installation of a gas/oil heating unit.

Basic Building Permit

$50.00- Decks, Porches, Attached or Detached Garages, Pole Barns, Woodstoves, Fireplaces and Storage Sheds 145-600 SQ FT.

Attached or Detached garages, pole barns or storage sheds 601 SQ FT or more is $.15 per SQ FT.

Additions & Alterations

(Habitable) $80.00 plus $.15 SQ FT over 600 SQ FT  

(Non-Habitable) $60.00 plus $.10 SQ FT over 600 SQ FT

New Residence/Modular

$150.00 plus $.10 SQ FT over 1500 SQFT plus Garage fee

New Multi-Family

$150.00 per unit (3 or more units)

Single Family Conversion

$150.00 per Unit plus $.10 SQ FT over 1500 SQ FT (Change of Occupancy applies)  

Manufactured Home

Single- $100.00; Double-wide- $150.00 plus $.10 SQ FT over 1500 SQ FT

New Commercial

$300.00 min. or $.20 SQ FT; Additions to existing $200.00 min. or $.20 SQ FT

Accessory Buildings $150.00 min. or $.20 SQ FT

Conversions: $200.00 min. or $.20 SQ FT

Renewals

Same cost as original Permit (Permits Expire within 1-year)

Septic System

$50.00 with Engineer Stamped Drawings

Private Solar System

$75.00 with Engineer Stamped Drawings

Swimming Pools

Above Ground with deck up to 150 SQ FT $60.00; In-ground, $100.00

$25.00 (Asbestos Evaluation Required)

Sign Permit

$25.00 (Follow applicable Municipal Law)

Communication Towers

$3.00 per vertical feet (Drawings & Engineering Calcs. required)
